FAQ's about Reiki and Reiki Practitioners

What is Reiki?

Reiki pronounced Ray Key is a Japanese word, which when translated means (Rei) Universal Life Force and (Ki) Energy. This energy is said to be within everyone and that we all have this “life form energy” flowing through us.
Reiki Therapists undergo a training process known as an “attunement” carried out by a Reiki Master, this enables them to access their “life form energy” and strengthen the Ki of others thus producing the necessary healing effect.
If the patient has a low level of "life force energy" they are more prone to illness and stress, conversely if it is high, they are more likely to be happy and healthy. Reiki is a powerful, long established and effective form of natural healing, it is now acknowledged as one of the most widely known forms of energy healing benefiting from being a very gentle non-intrusive form of healing which makes use of a hands-on technique.

How does Reiki work?

We all have a “life force energy” flowing through our bodies. This energy force flows though pathways called chakras, meridians and nadis. It nourishes the organs and cells of the body, and helps them maintain their functions. Should this flow be disrupted, there will be diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the body.
Reiki channels new energy forces through the body causing any negative energy present to break up, this results in the energy pathways to be cleared and the life force to flow in a more healthy way.

Is it possible for anyone to learn Reiki and receive attunements?

If the initiation and attunements are performed by a Reiki Master Teacher, it is possible for anyone to learn. The ability to perform Reiki is transferred from the teacher to the student through an attunement which takes place during a Reiki class. After receiving an attunement, the student has the ability to perform Reiki, They will now have the ability to use Reiki energy by placing their hands on either themselves or patients. This ability will always remain with them

What is distance healing?

Distance healing is only practiced by second and third degree Reiki practitioners. It is a Reiki technique where energy force is transferred without actually the practitioner physically touching the patient. It uses symbols and mantras the practitioner received during their Reiki training and attunements.

How does distance healing work?

The vital life force energy has no limits in regards to time and space, Reiki practitioners as a result of their training and attunements can bring about healing regardless of distance.
The practitioner first sets the Intention for the session whether it be specific or general. This can be done by arranging a telephone call with the aim of contacting the recipient and talking through the healing procedure as it is given, alternatively a prearranged time can be set when healing takes place. The patient does not necessarily need to know the treatment is happening but might prefer to be aware in case they experience any body sensations. The therapist will open the energy channel at the agreed time and sends the Reiki energy to the patient.
